GameStop is shaking up the holiday shopping season with a new promotion that lets customers trade in almost anythingfor store credit — and yes, that even includes scratched game discs, old electronics, toys and, surprisingly, taxidermy pieces.
The retailer’s first-ever “Trade Anything Day” will roll out nationwide on December 6, giving shoppers a unique chance to clear out clutter and score credit toward games, consoles, collectibles and more.
But before you load up your car with random attic finds, there are a few rules. GameStop won’t accept certain items, including hazardous materials, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, pharmaceuticals, live or dead animals, 3D printers, label printers, VCRs or DVD players. The quirky exception? Taxidermy is fair game.
GameStop employees will also have the authority to decline any item that doesn’t meet the company’s standards.
More details — including the full list of exclusions — are expected as the event approaches, but the announcement already has fans buzzing. With retailers gearing up for the holiday rush, GameStop is betting that a “trade almost anything” offer will bring curious shoppers through the door.
