Bob Cox, born and raised in rural southern Indiana in 1962, was exposed at an early age to Country music from his parents, as his father played bass for a local group " Ray Floyd and the Rainbow Rangers". Bob learned to play drums to an old 1950s tube type record player at age 9, and transitioned to acoustic guitar. The 1980s found Bob helping his cousin run spotlight on occasion for a very talented group "the LLoyd Wood Show". Based at the Little Nashville Opry, the group opened for big name artists like Conway Twitty, George Jones, Mel Tillis, Moe Bandy, and other greats of the day. Hanging around back stage, Bob gained insight and inspiration, while learning what goes on front stage and back stage. After playing jam sessions in 2015, Bob met bass player, Randy Nicholson. the two formed a country band, known as the '' Country Spirit Band'. Now a working traditional country cover band, that has spread rapidly through out locally.
The band consists of Randy Nicholson(bass guitar and vocals), Kevin Porter (vocals and lead guitar), Lee Wade( drums), Rex Stroud( keyboard and vocals), and Bob Cox( acoustic guitar and vocals). Trying his hand at song writing, Bob and producer Jeff Foster,at string dancer studios created the "Dreaming My Way Back to You" album, (separate musicians were used). The Country Spirit Band recorded a second version of "Boogie Woogie USA", which was added to the album, and seems to be doing quite well at venues where they play. The band has no leader, and all decisions are made by an all in favor system. However, they did elect Randy Nicholson to be the general spokesperson. As Rex Stroud puts it; "We elected Randy because he"s the tallest!!! ".
